Enjoy watching this short video of the talented Diramu Aboriginal Dance & Didgeridoo performance troupe.
Our talented Aboriginal troupe demonstrate their engaging, interactive, and fun approach to introducing people of all ages and backgrounds, to colourful and lively Aboriginal dance & music. The emphasis is on respectfully educating the audience, beginning with a traditional cleansing of the chosen site, then moving on to explain the materials used and what they represent to Aboriginal people (using gum leaves to represent fire & smoke, as an example).
Aboriginal dance is accompanied by a fusion of Didgeridoo, clapsticks, and songs. The lyrics of songs may tell of clan or family history, or perhaps the Dreamtime, and often include vivid images of landmarks, tracking practices, and how features of the land were created.
A special part of many performances is the interaction between our performers and members of the audience – bringing out smiles on everyone’s faces!
Diramu Aboriginal Dance & Didgeridoo perform in a wide variety of locations (public urban spaces, park settings, private conference rooms & major auditoriums) and skilfully adapt to the surrounds and time of day. And the types of events are just as varied, from black tie Galas, public festivals, to private conferences.
